The heart of any organization is it's people. Miken Specialties, ltd. is proud of its employees and considers their continued education and training a key element to the company’s success.

In conjunction with our Quality and Safety training, we provide financial assistance to employees who desire to continue their formal education, as well as in-house apprentice programs for insulation and scaffolding personnel.

Through our involvement with Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), we help to provide funding at local community colleges for educational programs in a wide variety of industry disciplines. This effort, recognized and endorsed by the United States Department of Labor, is helping to provide training for hundreds of individuals who seek to make the construction industry their career.

Miken recognizes that the survivors in the highly competitive construction industry are those companies most able to demonstrate the ability to focus on increased productivity, loss control, and more cost-effective methods of operation. Toward this end we have developed an in-house program to identify and build upon strengths while eliminating waste. Employees throughout the company are encouraged to identify needed areas of improvement and obstacles to increased productivity. The responsiveness and involvement of our people allows management to target areas of concern and to implement corrective action utilizing the collective brain power of our entire work force.

 

The quality of our workmanship and effectiveness of our craftsman is reflected by our continued commitment to training and education. In addition to the various apprenticeship programs sponsored by Miken, we work with our local community college and the local chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors to provide vocational training and education in addition to workplace literacy programs.

 

Whether providing support services such as scaffolding or insulation, adherence to schedule and cost-effectiveness are among our primary considerations. At Miken, our highest priority is working with our customers to meet or exceed the project’s requirements. The very nature of our industry dictates the need for a cooperative working relationship with the customer on each project. A clear understanding of the ultimate goal and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances underscore the need for close and effective communication between customer and contractor. We feel that our strength lies in our ability to include our customer as an integral part of our team from mobilization through project completion.
